As our breeding program evolved, so did our vision for the type of cattle we wanted to raise. We realized we could select for genetic traits that improve efficiency, animal welfare, and functionality—without compromising the exceptional marbling and carcass quality that Akaushi are known for.
Today, our herd is built around naturally polled Purebred and Fullblood Akaushi genetics (93.75% Akaushi or higher), with an emphasis on producing cattle that excel in both the pasture and on your plate. By selecting for naturally hornless cattle, we eliminate the need for dehorning while reducing the risks associated with horned cattle in the pasture and during handling.
Our breeding program combines genetics from leading Akaushi breeders in both the United States and Australia to produce cattle with balanced, functional traits. We prioritize calving ease, maternal ability, structural soundness, docility, fertility, forage efficiency, and exceptional carcass quality—creating cattle that are practical for commercial producers while consistently producing premium Akaushi beef.

At Villacaro Farms, animal husbandry is at the heart of every decision we make. Through regenerative grazing, attentive care for our cows and calves, low-stress handling, and a carefully managed nutrition and healthcare program, our goal is simple: to raise healthy, content animals that can thrive naturally. All of our animals are evaluated by a veterinarian twice a year and remain up to date on disease screening and vaccinations to ensure their continued health and well-being.
